There are several other options for mobile credit/debit transactions, but traditionally Square's flat 2.75% makes the most sense for businesses like ours that have very small average tickets. Paypal used to charge a flat fee per swipe + a percentage, but it looks like they changed to 2.7% and dropped the flat fee.

Thanks Loopdan. Now do you just swipe and add amount? Or do you have a pos system?

Square has a POS system that runs on any smartphone, or an iPad. You can combine this with a "Square Stand" and a receipt printer, too. But it works just fine if you want to use it just for cards through your phone.

If you sign up through this link you'll also get your first $1,000 of sales processed with no fee: htpps://squareup.com/i/FIRST1000F

One of the things to watch for with other card services is sometimes they have a monthly minimum.
And each card you take would have a minimum. So if only one of them did not make the minimum you would get charged extra for it.
Square does not do this, the nice thing is at the end of the season, you just put the card reader away till next season. When you stop using it they stop charging you.

So it seems that Square is the way to go. Thanks Craig and it works with iOS or android?
