Re: Tropical Sno Spill Cups

Interesting concept. What I wonder is if that add on is really necessary since you already have a cup to catch the melting.

Buyer beware when purchasing from Icy Skyy online

To all forum members , please be aware when purchasing concentrates from Icy Skyy. From what I know they are a new shave ice supplier on the net. Being located in California I was delighted to see that there was another local vendor in Southern California beside Real Hawaiian Ice where I usually pic...

Re: Syrup Mixing Directions

Boiling doesn't change the color or make it intense, it is the flavoring itself. In my opinion a slightly lighter coloring means that there isn't as much concentrated food dye in the concentrate. In my area, some people actually prefer a lighter color since it doesn't stain people's mouth or tongues...

Re: Does Your State Require NSF?

I feel that NSF hinders a lot of business growth since NSF approved products tend to be so expensive. I agree that NSF productions have higher sanitation standards but for small business starting up to be decked out with all NSF appliances is so rip off.

Re: Kona Ice

Same here. I think it is because they got the donation thing going which is why they got the connections with the schools and sports teams.

They are using a Snowie shaver. Kids tend to not care for the quality, they do enjoy the music blazing from the trucks and the penguin though.

Re: ShaveIceSupply.Com Youtube Channel

I think they did a shave ice making tutorial or something close which was filmed at Scandinavian Shave ice which showed a girl making a cone and pouring syrup.

However I do think a syrup mixing would be great!

Re: Spoon or straw

I use the spoon straws as opposed to having them separately. It is more convenient and reduces the amount of trash and clutter. If you add ice cream to your shave ice, then perhaps using a spoon and straw would make more sense since the spoon straws tend to be a bit too small and flimsy for ice cream.

Re: Real story on Kona Ice?

I agree with the above statements. You really don't need to pay 100k plus for a franchise unless you covet some sort of exclusive or hard to enter location/territory. Most people who open their own stores do the same if not better than franchise stores since you won't have to worry about paying for ...

Re: Need machine repair

I believe there is one of the operators at Hokulea Shave Ice that does fix machines, I believe his name is Clint. He use to repair Fujimarcas and Swans, but not too sure about the other brands or if he still does it since they are a franchise now.

The amazon are pricey! $32 for only 100 and 4 colors. The one on shave ice supply is $26 for 200 and 6 colors.
