Private events are fine without NSF approval since you do not need a health permit nor GE tax to do private (not for profit) functions. Some cities allow you to use the Fujimarca without NSF as well in California.

Katy, check with your local health dept if they let you make your own blocks. Many do not and require you to buy from a ice company. I would normally recommend half gallon containers. Fujimarca as we put it is simply the best shaver out there. It's not cause we carry it, but we carried it for 30 years for that reason.

Try to have your employees use the blade adjustment knob for output rather than the foot pedal. The blade adjustment knob is like a throttle, where you can increase or decrease the out put of the ice. That is the most ideal way.

Florida is a NSF state so right off the bat you will need to think about purchasing a NSF machine which usually runs near $2,000.
