Re: Clear and Sugar Free Flavors
If you make your sugar free base with splenda or stevia, the product will be clear. Adding the concentrates will change the coloring due to food coloring. If you want it to stay clear, go for a clear product like coconut or haupia. Some vendors also sell extracts that come in clear. For us the clear...

Re: Real story on Kona Ice?
Snowie = Faster out put machine, made in America. NSF Hatsuyuki = Slower shaver (maybe a bit finer texture), made in Japan. NSF Both are equally good machines, it depends on your budget and output. Many people go for the Hatsuyuki simply cause it is a lot cheaper, if you search hard and negotiate we...

I would also consider going for a block manual shaver. It may not be electric but it is a lot better in texture than a cheap cube shaver. Not only that, a manual shaver can last you decades if used right.

Re: Snowie Shaved Ice Convention
I believe Snowie is the only manufacture that does a convention. There are several franchises that do their own convention like Tropical Snow, Kona, or Hokulia.

Capitalist, thanks for letting the forum know. Though we normally don't comment on other vendors, we certainly do not understand why new business's would try to go such routes. Most of the vendors in the US has been around for at least a decade and pretty much understand the business and how importa...

Randi, belts are relatively easy to change. All you got to do is open the bottom of the machine by removing the metal screen. You will see the belt, pry it off and pop in the new one. Bearing change is a bit more difficult. We usually don't recommend customers doing it themselves unless they know wh...

Re: Freezing ice in buckets
You really don't need crystal clear ice in order to shave properly. If the ice is a bit cloudy in the center, it is perfectly fine. If the ice is real hazy, it could affect consistency slightly. Just freeze your ice with good filtered water (or RO water). Let the ice freeze overnight or at least 12 ...
