Hi, I am a long time shave ice lover, raised in Hawaii. I happened upon a cart and machine recently and now want to go into business. I am in florida, and looking for someone to help lead me through whatever process it is to become licensed for shave ice vending. If anyone knows the steps/the amount it will cost? please help.

Hi Janine, welcome to the forums. I know that health codes vary from city to city but right off the bat I would say first get a food permit from the health department. If possible, ask other business such as similar concession vendors and see what type of equipment they need. As far as I know, in order to be liscensed as a food establishment, you would need a commercial sink and of course insurance. Is the cart you bought brand new or use to be part of a existing business? If it was part of a existing business before, maybe you can ask the seller what permits are required in your area. I am unsure of how much it costs, but usually health permits aren't that much, it is the necessary appliances that really add up. Hope this helps!
