I am using a Fujimarca mc709se and it has been working pretty well, but slower than my Swan.
Recently, very little ice is coming out so we turn the blade higher until all of a sudden the crunchy stuff blasts out. I know the blade is too high when that happens, but when we turn it down, very little comes out.
We have resorted to applying pressure manually to the spinny thing to keep it shaving, but I'm sure that's not the optimal solution. Is there a part that we need to replace or something?
I need help with my Fujimarca
Ice was very well tempered and this is a brand new blade.knowpow wrote:Are you tempering your ice properly? How many servings have you ran through the machine? Maybe the blade needs sharpened.
I did make some progress by adjusting the blade setting. I started with it as low as possible, then moved it to as high as possible (which was when I had the most trouble). Now, I've got it more in the middle and it seems to be better. Not ideal, but better.
I still welcome any other suggestions people might have.
One of the Hatsuyuki owners had a similar issue a few weeks ago. I think he reset his blade, something about the gap between the blade and ice table.

Sounds like you may need a new pressure assembly! If you have to hold down the handles to produce the pressure, then it is definitely the pressure problem. Shaveicesupplies sell the pressure assemblies or springs on their website.
What did you ever find out?
Ours is doing this and I am hunting the answer.
Seems the down pressure is not consistent.
I greased and adjusted the brake several times.
Getting angry with this thing. The hatsu and Swan don't do this.

I wish I had a good answer. I have been using my Swans more but really need to get the Fuji back into service. If anyone has ideas, I'd love to hear them.offgridman wrote:What did you ever find out?

Also, I'm not sure what the "pressure assembly" is...
Ok guys, let me help you with the pressure problem. This is actually a common wear and tear issue on the machine due to frequent usage as well as using big blocks of ice which causes strain on the spring. There are two types of Fujimarca pressure adjustments, depending if your machine is using the newer version of the pressure assembly or the old one. The newer machines have "two" handles to the left and the older machine has "three".
What you need to change is the spring that is located inside the pressure assembly

In certain cases, you will have to change the whole assembly (especially if yours is the 3 handle version)

Tension adjustment tutorial for the "newer" model can be located here:

This is very helpful. I definitely have the older machine. I bought it used so don't know if pressure assembly was ever changed. Doubt it.
How do I know if I need the whole thing, versus just the $10 spring? Are there particular things I should look for?

Hey Matt, you normally don't have to replace the whole unit unless you want it for the easier adjustment mechanism of the newer units. However, if your gear is chipped, spring is bad, and the assembly itself is old perhaps it will be good to just replace it with the 2 handle version. The biggest difference is really the adjustment. The two handle version is just so much easier to adjust and change your tension without all the work you have to do to just take out the spring for the 3 handle.
