Blast/Shock Freezer??

It is necessary to purchase a blast freezer/shock freezer to get the right consistency to create the "ribbons" like affect for shaved snow?

If you want to make Snow Ice or those Asian style ribbon ice then you would need a blast freezer in order for the ice to freeze properly. However for shave ice you would not need that. The ribbon effect is done by a shave ice machine not by the freezer or the ice.
