SWAN SI100E WORM GEAR CARNAGE

Postby cajunsno » Fri Jun 30, 2017 8:21 pm

2015 Swan SI100E

 Worm Gear Issues

Makes 150-300 cones a day, 7 days a week, no foot pedal.

Why does this keep happening to me!?!?!? My worm gear was destroyed on my new swan after about 5 months of heavy use. I have done a complete teardown and rebuild replacing it twice now with the same results.

The last one only lasted a few weeks, though I admit i set the ss work gear very close in a frustrated attempt to keep this from happening again.

The newest one today:

The last one after cleanup:

Any ideas!?!? I'm at my wit's end!! My intuition says I'm misaligning the motor but it seems to run quiet and smooth after I rebuild so I don't know. There is a lot of wiggle room with how to position the motor with the ss worm gear, but I have found no guidance on how to position it.

Thanks in advance for your expertise and time!
