Re: Would I be able to use a block ice shaver at a Farmer's Market?

I've used block shavers on plastic-portable tables before without any problems. As long as the block ice you use isn't too large you should be fine, because of the weight of the block on the machine it may cause it to vibrate and shake very violently sometimes if it isn't centered properly.

Re: Newbie- make or buy ice

Yes that is correct. Do not buy compressed ice. It's cheaper, but the quality is just not there. I get mines from Honolulu Ice Company here in Honolulu which is also HTK. If you purchase or outsource the ice. Make sure you are getting it from a reputable place. Your biggest concern is the "WATER" th...

Re: When to change the blades on ice shaver?

You would know when to change the blade when these symptoms show up. a.) It doesn't shave at all or shaves very little at a time even when your blade is raised to the max b.) The quality of the ice that is being shaved is a lot more coarse, you will notice this if you are constantly making shave ice...

Re: Is a portable generator ok to run a Shave ice machine?

I run my Fujimarca shavers on generator all the time. I previously owned some Swans and didn't have a problem either. In my opinion, DO NOT go cheap on the extension cords. You want constant power to the shaver so doesn't mess up your motor. Good luck! :P

Re: Over heating Swan machine motor.

Ross, That ice block size you are using is too large for the shaver. As you may have noticed on the Swan Si100. There is virtually no vents, or the holes are so small. I wouldn't even consider it a vent. If you run the machine very hard during the Summer. It will over-heat especially under heavy loa...

Re: Snowie block ice shaver! A piece of garbage

That is crazy! Is that the gear piece? I'm glad everyone was okay, machine can always be replaced. :o

I've always trusted my Fujimarcas. They are pretty much bullet proof and workhorse for me.

Re: Insurance - newbie question

I would most likely try to get quotes from all the known auto insurance companies and see which ones offer the best deal for your need. Farmers, Statefarm, Progressive, Geico, etc. It's a bit difficult for me to provide you with estimates without knowing much of the detail for your vehicle. Everyone...

Re: Push carts?

I always recommend getting the right answers from your local Department of Health/Sanitation or Business licensing and planning if you are to build your own. Spend some time doing the research in what is needed and the over all cost for you to build one vs buying one. Some may even require a contrac...

Re: Swan SI-100 issue/question updated 8-22-2018

The most reported issue with the Swan Si-100 within the first year is usually the case of "bad blade", or "worn brake shoe." I've noticed that is happening on the forum with a lot of folks who has the Swans Si100. So it's great that you are stocking up on them. If you notice a lack of tension on you...
