It should freeze up overnight, shouldn't take days. As long as you keep the lid off and don't open/close the freezer doors alot it should be fine. It could be stretched to 7x7x7 all around, square or round molds don't matter. But make sure the ice is pretty even when you mount it on the machine or else it may spin out or the machine may wobble alot due to inbalance.

We use to carry glass bottles, however we eventually switched to plastic because it is lighter and also safer.
